sketchbook completed on the ides of march, that’s gotta stand for something. sure. anyway, some hand lettered ef fraktur bold for you typophiles.

finally getting around to posting my recent octopi series. and while i’m at it, prints now available!
(regular 13″x19″, large 18″x24″, and super-jumbo 24″x36″)

well ain’t this just one big ol’ mess on paper. whee!

i had the honor of working with hp to develop three backgrounds for their 2010 laptop line. the pieces are in the style of my sketchbook drawings, so i got to ink and watercolor and tape and whatever. the artist series also includes the über-talents of laura barnard, amy ruppel, and julie west. all 2010 laptops ship with these backgrounds and are also now available for download, go get’m!
update 1: you can now read my interview with hp, if you are feeling so inclined.
update 2: just saw the interview translated to chinese. even more entertaining to read it translated back to english!

color and paper tests:

i recently completed a subway tile header for my favorite greenpoint news source, newyorkshitty.com. run by the wonderful and tenacious miss heather, newyorkshitty keeps an eye on greenpoint, calling out shitty developers, learning the shit behind new restaurants and bars, and noticing plain ol’ poop on the street. if you live in greenpoint, i can’t recommend newyorkshitty enough.

greenpoint’s own peter pan bakery where i have just been introduced to their red velvet donut, their red velvet donut WITH COCONUT!? and their whole wheat donut which sounds like some kind of delusional health-nut abomination, but in fact is possibly their most delicious invention of all (and not healthy at all)!

this page is really just a mess, and not even a particularly good mess. internet, you’re welcome!

it’s a short thanksgiving doodle week, doodle, doodle, doodle.

more effing around with cutting out paper and taping, cutting out some more paper, etc. november, you certainly are designed for plodding and pondering, football watching too.
