icy day
while complicated and perilous to walk through, i love the the city under a layer of ice on a rainy/sleety/icy day.
migratory bikes
let me start off by saying i have a simple commute, which makes me all the more impressed that i manage to encounter a full range of bike shenanigans over the course of it, hell, within the first five blocks. of particular entertainment is the crossing of mcguinness and driggs (google map).
today had me arriving 3rd or 4th to the intersection, sitting behind a bike rider or two, trackstanded in front of, etc. when the light turned green, it was like birds scattering. a thing of beauty, idiotic beauty.

i recently completed a subway tile header for my favorite greenpoint news source, newyorkshitty.com. run by the wonderful and tenacious miss heather, newyorkshitty keeps an eye on greenpoint, calling out shitty developers, learning the shit behind new restaurants and bars, and noticing plain ol’ poop on the street. if you live in greenpoint, i can’t recommend newyorkshitty enough.

the garden: holiday gnomes
local lunch jaunt the garden, has gone gnome crazy for the holidays. gnomes swinging, gnomes wheelbarrowing, and uh…gnomes waiting in line for the hotbar.
voting: presidential election
ao and i got up and headed to the voting booth this morning. for most elections, the line is at most five deep, and that’s probably optimistic. this presidential election, while we didn’t have a 3 hour wait or a line circling the block, there were a good 50 people waiting to get into the polling station and another 20 or so in line for our district, it was quite exciting, (scroll down to see my ballot) and don’t forget . . . vote early! vote often!
