slate: old phone number, new tricks

google voice now can port your phone number so all your calls centralized without having to get a new number! well, you sort of need a new number, but people calling you can use your regular number. this illustrator only has one number, so i find this whole thing is a moot.

and while i don’t know for a fact how farhad talks on the phone, i am willing to assume that it looks like EXACTLY like this.

buildings

…and buildings. a mix of sketchbook and illustration style, i sort of like it, and then i begin to miss the realness of the sketchbook scan for this sort of thing. what i am saying, is that i am on the fence. what do you, the viewing masses, have to say?

slate: cheeks of steel

face exercises, or as i prefer to call them, face-R-cises! intrigued by the youtube video below, slate investigates the validity and popularity of greer childers’ facial exercise routine. my illustration turned out pretty creepy, but pales to the experience of watching the video, it’s pure 90′s gold.

hemispheres magazine: consider the tardigrade

hopefully over the holidays, some of you were stuck on the tarmac waiting for your flight to depart or return to the gate, and picked up the hemispheres magazine (united) in front of you and read about the science of biomimicry.

cincinnati magazine: helping a heart

a recent piece for cincinnati magazine’s top doctors issue about implanting a ventricular assist device (basically, a machine that helps the heart pump). this is a timely illustration, as former vice president dick cheney just made his first notable public appearance after receiving this treatment. posting this reminds me of my original dream to become the world’s foremost medical illustrator. mom always wanted me to draw a doctor.
