slate: olympic sap-o-meter

it’s time for the winter olympics in vancouver, and nbc is all ready with heartfelt stories of success, hardwork, suffering, perseverance…sap. slate has dusted off the ol’ sap-o-meter which tallies the daily cheese-quotient of the on-air crew. be sure to check in for your daily dose of schmaltz and the ‘sappiest line of the day,” it’s enough to make a grown peacock cry.

nerdentines

♥♥♥ happy early valentines day! is your special someone a nerd? does sir patrick stewart make you hot? well, send them a valentine’s ecard, featuring elves, klingons and na’vi speaking in their native tongues. (and yes, these are actual translations, the good people at lemondrop got actual translations from actual ‘people’, not just from google). so find yourself a cute boy or girl who twitters from their parents’ basement and send them one! ♥♥♥

mouse trackin’

this isn’t terribly useful, but kind of fun, a little app that tracks your mouse usage for, uh, however long you leave it turned on. this is only a couple of hours, with a coffee break at the end (yes, the big dot).
