slate: here lies the tie clip

slate fashion article about the disappearance of the tie clip. i actually own two tie clips. the first is the tie clip that my grandfather always wore, and the second is a retractable mechanical pencil that doubles as a tie clip, given to me for some reason by my grandmother (hmm, i really have to find that one). i guess that set of grandparents just really appreciated a tie kept in its place.
