what’s online: the name game (plus typos)

cybersquatters are now using a technique called domain tasting, where they register domains with typos or close spellings of known trademarks, and depending on what kind of traffic they receive, decide to keep or return the url (for a full refund, within 5 days). companies such as microsoft and neimman marcus have recently filed lawsuits against companies using these practices.

slate: no exit

article about la times employee trying to quit. i am guessing that the original article had more intrigue, sex and espionage in it, but i don’t think that part made it past the legal department. who knows, i just draw the pictures.
