in case you were wondering, i can draw again. both my hands for the most part are healed. the tendons in the left are a bit out of wack, but they are coming around (thanks to the occupational therapy finger gym), and the right is fine and dandy. some things i can once again do: draw, ride my bike, give people the finger, and dress myself.
figure drawing is back, and after this summer, i noticed that i am a little obsessed with drawing hands. on a health note, after three hours of drawing, my hand was quite tired (wow, that sounds dirty when written next to a figure drawing. the statement, however, remains true…perverts!).
i noticed my observational drawing was more realistic than in the past. drawing with my right hand forced me to use greater concentration, and now back with the left, i seem to have kept that up. don’t fret, i am sure i will get back to all my bad drawing habits again in no time.
checking out the website of mr. nicholas deakin, i was led to the illustration mundo website. a very nice portal showcasing tons of illustrative talent, and nate was kind enough to include me. thanks nate.
our thoughts go out to all those affected by hurricane katrina. having family in new orleans, this catastrophe hits close to home (fortunately, my relatives are safe and sound). it’s difficult to read reports and watch the news and still try to go on with a normal day, there doesn’t seem to be a lot one can do. if you are looking to help, there are a number of places accepting donations:
evil eggs
an evil tape worm (unused concept for LIC shirt), and a six pack of cracked eggs (unused concept for BTSH sweatshirt).
