why was i thinking about potatoes and tubers at a bar? i am not exactly sure, but it was dark, which might have had something to do with it. originally this drawing was vertical, but due to the wide format of the sketchbook, it’s now a sideways growing spud.

freakonomics and the new york times

another eben illustration ran in the new york times last saturday. this one being about chicken-economics, specifically, the authors of the book freakonomics, have a blog for further extrapolations into the economics of the everyday world. the specific idea for this illustration came from the the entry, ‘why pay $36.09 for rancid chicken?’
